Eliana: Recovering from HFMD

Sunbeam had her 1st encounter with this infamous kiddy virus at the age of 6.5 months. It wasn't even that many prominent spots, but those in the mouth/throat proved most torturous. It was obviously painful to swallow her saliva, from the record amount of drool over those few days. The simple act that babies enjoy most, i.e., drinking milk, became so excruciating for her. It was trying, tiring, and tormenting... Her piercing cries really broke my heart.

Thanks to all who have joined us to pray. Her fever subsided after day 1, and her fluid intake went up after day 2. She almost needed to be sent to kk for drip, if not for her sudden cooperation to drink the ice-chilled milk. At least this is something that worked for her. Thank God too for the revelation. Interesting, we've been making milk with room temperature water since. Maybe we can keep the thermos away for a while.

Today is day 7. Spots are still there, but mainly red imprints and no more pus. Energy level is good. Appetite is back. All is well.

These 2 weeks of HFMD relay between Estella and Eliana really wore us thin. Nonetheless, our tired faces are cheered up by the kids' vibrance, innocence and new milestones.

By the way, Eliana is capable of multiple roll-overs, and can sit upright to play for prolonged periods. Key: must have the right toys to interest her, and the daily disinfecting wash.

Also to put on record, her bottom right muncher has emerged! That must have added to the discomfort she experienced this whole week. Hang in there, my little googoogaga! Soon, mama can give you more varieties of food.

This is an open secret I always whisper into your ears - "I love you..."
